The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) is viewed as one of the most widely read university rankings with regard to Academic Ranking of World Universities and Times Higher Education World University Rankings. QS tries to design its rankings to assess performance according to what it believes to be key aspects of a university's mission: teaching, research, nurturing employability, and internationalisation.

Methodology of QS World University Rankings:
  1. Academic peer review (weighting = 40% of total): Based on an internal global academic survey
  2. Faculty/Student ratio (weighting = 20% of total): A measurement of teaching commitment
  3. Citations per faculty (weighting = 20% of total): A measurement of research impact
  4. Employer reputation (weighting = 10% of total): Based on a survey on graduate employers International student ratio
  5. International student ratio (weighting = 5% of total): A measurement of the diversity of the student community
  6. International staff ratio (weighting = 5% of total): A measurement of the diversity of the academic staff
