Incretins are insulinotropic hormones secreted from small intestinal neuroendocrine cells. Endogen Incretins included: glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is highly efficient and only small amounts are needed to exert their effects but their effects was short lived because of proteolytic cleavage by dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4). Incretins based Therapies included GLP-1 Analogs (Exenatide, albiglutide, liraglutide, and dulaglutide) and DPP-4 Inhibitors (sitagliptin, saxagliptin, linagliptin, and alogliptin). Our presentation focused on clinically important data regarding available formulations in Islamic Republic of Iran.
